Terry Howerton started his first company in high school, and has spent a career founding and growing ventures, mentoring other entrepreneurs and leading community and industry organizations. Howerton is the founder and Chief Executive of TechNexus, a venture development firm built on collaboration between leading corporations and a global entrepreneurial ecosystem. TechNexus also operates a start¬up incubator from its headquarters in Chicago. To date, more than 450 startup ventures have grown with TechNexus, attracting more than half a billion dollars in capital. Howerton is an active national influence on innovation and issues important to the technology industry. Howerton founded the ITA, helping to define the nascent technology community in Chicago and the region, which over the past decade has grown to more than 3,000 interconnected tech companies. Howerton is an education reform advocate and founded a Chicago high school centered on tech and entrepreneurial thought. Howerton is a board director of the International Business Innovation Association, serves as a director or advisor to several private companies, and is a member of the executive committee alongside leading tech industry CEOs at TechNet, the Silicon Valley and Washington DC based advocate for important public policy, including economic growth, immigration, STEM education and workforce development.
