Joel founded Northern Exposure Global Innovations to provide strategic advisory services to startups and established corporations seeking to develop and commercialize disruptive technological innovations.
Joel obtained a liberal arts degree at the University of Michigan, where he minored in computer science. He then spent 2 years overseas, including helping found an agricultural collective/kibbutz in the Israeli desert. For the next 5 years he worked as a software engineer at some of the Chicago area’s largest IT installations. Subsequently Joel obtained a JD at the University of Chicago Law School, eventually becoming a legal pioneer in the emerging field of computer-based intellectual property development and commercialization. In Silicon Valley, he worked in private practice for over 25 years providing legal services to technology companies ranging in size from startups to multinationals.
